Cahors Challenge 2020

Cahors Challenge 2020

Published on Tuesday 18th February 2020
The Cahors Challenge is for teams of 4 to ride in relay over 500 miles from St Malo to Cahors in 3 days, raising sponsorship from their cycling efforts for Charity.

Together we have raised £4,449,412 since 1996, which has all been donated to Charity, with our Mont Ventoux Challenge 2019 raising £130,000.

Teams will leave Portsmouth on the 20h15 Brittany Ferry sailing to St Malo on Wednesday 30th September, arriving at 08h15. Challenge Adventure Charities will organise the ferry for your team and vehicle with cabin accommodation for all.

Thursday 1st October: Saint Malo - Angers

We start cycling from under the historic walls of the maritime city of St Malo, heading from Brittany through parts of Normandy before turning South to cross the Loire to our first nights’ rest in a holiday village near Angers.

Friday 2nd October: Angers - Limoges

After an early breakfast on Day 2, we will follow the Loire through Saumur and then the Vienne and finally the Creuse river valley taking us South to Limoges.

Saturday 3rd October: Limoges - Cahors

From Limoges we continue South to the source of the Dordogne, passing Rocamadour to the finish in Cahors, home to the French Malbec wine, revered by Tzars, Popes and Princes.

Sponsorship

Teams will be made up of ‘extra’ ordinary people, rising to a physical challenge and raising money for Charity through personal and corporate sponsorship. All that is required is the legs and stamina to ride your share of 500 miles and the commitment to raise a minimum of £1000 for Charity, half of which can be donated to Charities of the team’s choice.

Teams are encouraged to use JustGiving for sponsorship and to set up their JustGiving pages by following the link to the CAC JustGiving page for this event.:  http://www.justgiving.com/fundraising-page/creation/?cid=110866&eid=5807516

100% of sponsorship raised by teams is donated to Charity, as the entry fee fully covers all costs so there is no dilution.

Entry fee

The entry fee of £1200 is for a team of 4 and covers the outbound ferry with cabin, 3 nights half board accommodation in France and the support of our band of Marshalls. Teams will travel in their own support vehicle and typically ride on road racing bikes.
