Bordeaux Challenge 2014 Review
What a Glorious 3 days spent Cycling from St Malo through Brittany and down the west coastal Regions of Pays de la Loire; Poitou Charentesand finishing in the magnificent City of Bordeaux in Aquitaine.
The sun shone (nearly all the time), the roads were smooth (predominantly) and the Wine and Cognac eased the pain at the end of a day in the saddle (mostly)!
A Classic ‘Charity Adventure Charities’ Challenge with the re-introduction of a good-humoured element of competition. The Polypipe Baton Relay was taken up by most and saw Teams riding hard during the day and sometimes even rolling into the evening’s indulgences! The latter taking place on the second evening in the magnificent Stateroom of Baron Otard's ‘Chateau de Cognac’ and for the final evenings’ Celebrations in Chateau Lafite!! Further competition was seen with another welcome return; this time of Team ‘Rear View’ and their own take on the finest sights to be seen clad in Lycra plus the extravagance of their hand-baked Energy Cakes and bars!!
The Weather gods certainly smiled on us over the 500 miles and it is hoped for another Classic Year in 2015 with literally ‘A Mountain to Climb’ in the Team “Alpe D’Huez Challenge” – remember to book early to save disappointment!!
All of this enjoyment; exercise and camaraderie in the name of Charity – what better ‘feel-good’ factor is there than a CAC Challenge??
